In a previous post I talked about the benefits of good quality content. This post is a continuation of that, where we talk about the need for unique well-written content that will help you rank on search engines like Google.
Search engines like Google want to provide their users with the best experience possible and they will reward you for high quality content that is highly relevant to what a user might search for. So, what’s the best way to write this article? Research keywords carefully by using tools like Google Adwords or Ahrefs, write a concise article around those keywords and make it as original as possible!
A lot of marketers are interested in figuring out how to rank on Google, but don’t take it from me, take it from the Chief Engineer at Google who spilled the beans on how they determine rankings. Now that you know this little secret, it’s time to make sure your content is high quality. Most marketers focus their energy on creating more content, when in fact they should be focusing on writing unique and creative content that is highly relevant to the user.
Doing Keyword Research
You might be wondering how you can find out what type of content a user is searching for and there’s an easy answer: keyword research. Keyword research tools like Google Adwords or Ahrefs will help you discover what type of content people are searching for. If someone is looking for “how to plant tomatoes” they are probably not searching for something super specific like, “How to Plant Tomatoes in the Fall”. Whether your page ranks or not is dependent on how well you can satisfy a user’s search intent and that means writing unique and creative content around the keywords you’ve identified.
If this sounds like a lot of work, it’s because it is. However, if you want to get serious about content marketing and rank on Google for specific keywords, focus on creating unique and creative content that will stand out to your audience. This means making sure your blog posts are well written and don’t sound like they were written by a robot. Nobody wants to read an article that is full of grammatical mistakes and doesn’t make any sense, so put in the hard work it takes to produce high level content that will satisfy your users’ search intent.
There are a number of ways that you can learn more about how to rank on Google, but the best thing you can do is spend some time studying keyword research tools like one of my favorites Ahrefs . They have great tools for helping marketers discover high volume keywords and providing useful data around them . In addition to keyword research you should also be spending time learning more about search intent and how to satisfy it through your content.
SEO is Always Changing
SEO is a constantly changing landscape and there’s no silver bullet to rank high on Google, however you can definitely increase your odds by focusing on creating useful content for your users. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter how many keywords you rank for if nobody wants to read them or share them with their friends.
So now that you know how to build your ranking on Google, go out there and create content that people will love!
How to write a great blog post?
Blogging is a great way to generate new, fresh content for your website. Blog posts should be well-written and interesting. However, blog post quality does not depend on the number of words or how many times you use a keyword in a sentence. It’s about how you write it. The first thing that people notice when they visit your blog is the headline; make it specific and attention grabbing! Make sure to include an introduction paragraph at the beginning of each article; this will let readers know what they can expect from reading it and keep them interested in reading more (i.e., avoid burying important information within paragraphs). Finally, make sure to conclude with a call-to-action – don’t just stop writing after you’ve written everything you wanted to say about the topic. Also, don’t just use a generic call-to-action like “read more” – you want to keep your readers interested in your content! Even your CTA should be included in your well-written content. You can include links, images, or videos that will share more information about the topic. Just let people know what they should do next with another headline and an introduction.
If you are not sure how to write a good blog post, just ask yourself the following questions before you start writing:
- What am I going to write about?
- Why would people want to read it?
- How will it be appealing that they would want to continue reading?
- What should I say in my conclusion that that will make them want to read more?
Once you have answered these questions, start writing. You can write about anything – the only requirement is that it should be interesting to your audience.
Keep Your Content Interesting
Keep in mind that your blog post length does not matter all that much. Your readers will continue reading your content as long as you keep them interested with good headlines and great information throughout the article.
When you write a good blog post and publish it on your website, you attract people to read and share your content. This will help improve your ranking on Google because search engines like websites that have a lot of traffic visiting them. People who visit your website from reading the blog post will check out other pages on your website as well, which also helps your ranking.
So, to write a good blog post:
- Brainstorm ideas for blog posts and pick one you’re interested in.
- Write an introduction paragraph with your main topic idea (remember that people like topics that apply to them).
- Make sure to write throughout the bulk of your article (don’t just leave it at this paragraph!).
- Write another paragraph that shows people what to do next (share, read more, etc).
- Don’t forget to use good keywords through-out your article while writing naturally.
- Make sure to share your blog posts on social media to get it out there!
